85th Birthday Party Visit

I will update my Blog thanks to Sandy's suggestion. She is right my last post is a reminder of a very sad time. Sunday, October 3rd was my Mom's 85th Birthday.
My sister, Carol and my brother, Ron and I had a surprise birthday party for her.
It was so much fun. We had a quiz show with questions about Juanita Blackwell (my Mom). Contestants Ron Blackwell (son), Vern Bauerle (son-in-law) and Sandra Hughes (grand daughter) each struggled to give accurate answers to questions posed to them about Juanita. There was a lot of silliness surrounding this part of the festivities. I think Sandra got the most questions right.
A Texas Tooth fairy singing telegram showed up to chastise my Mom for never giving her any teeth since she lost her baby teeth.
There was a time of gift and card opening and of course a truckload of food. Have to mention Meghan Bennett's cake. Three towering fudge filled layers of delicioseus confection.
All my sister's kids were there to add to the joyfulness. I have to say my sister has the neatest kids next to mine that I have ever met. And they married the best people!~ We missed Anthony though. Someday he will resurface to greet us all again. Somehow his mother being there just did not take his place.
Many of my Mom's friends came. Mrs Bennett was there.
Sarah and Willie and Kennedy. Bob and Cathy. Pearl. Most of the people were folks my Mom goes to church with.
Was she surprised? No. My sister sent out invitations and one was returned due to the street address being misspelled. My Mom and my sister share the same mailbox. So when my Mom got the mail she was all "What is this? Why is Carol writing Pearl?" She opened the note and found out all about it. She was still surprised that I came though and I'm pretty sure she was surprised at how many people came.
It has been a good visit. Went in the Bennett's spa last night and played cards tonight.
My Mom made a homemade apple pie.
It has been fun.
Monday the 4th was my Dad's Birthday. He would have been 90. He always said he wanted to live to be 90. He came very very close. He only missed it by about 140 days. Around 6 months.
Tonight our financial adviser asked me how long I thought I would live. To 90 or 95? I said 90.
No one has ever asked me that before. It is very sobering.
